Its bank contains exactly 36 original, unofficial selected-response items — 8 each for IELTS and TOEFL, and 10 each for B2 First and C1 Advanced. Every represented skill contains two items: listening, reading, writing and speaking for all four exams, with grammar added for B2 and C1.
Practice mode is designed for study. Choose an exam and skill, answer one item at a time, and read the explanation after submitting. Listening items use a voice already installed in macOS through system text-to-speech, with a transcript that can be revealed when useful. Writing and speaking items ask learners to identify sound strategy choices; they do not collect or grade an essay, recording or live response.
Mock mode changes the feedback rhythm rather than pretending the compact bank is a full official paper. The session is timed, answers remain hidden during the attempt, and the final score opens into an answer review when the session ends. A five-day Week 1 plan provides a simple starting sequence, while the practice bank remains available for direct skill selection at any time.
Progress stays on the Mac. Examly stores up to 500 local attempts and summarizes overall accuracy, best session, results by skill and recent history; learners can clear that history from the app. The separate website Direct edition is Developer ID-signed and Apple-notarized, permanently unlocks the full bank after one purchase, and contains no StoreKit paywall, subscription flow, account requirement or trial timer.

Examly is an independent, unofficial practice companion and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed by IELTS, ETS, Cambridge University Press & Assessment or another exam owner. It contains no official or previously administered questions and is a compact 36-item practice bank, not a complete course, official preparation product, full-length exam replica or source of ongoing content updates. Its accuracy and best-score summaries describe performance on these local items only; they are not official scaled scores, readiness assessments or predictions of an examination result. Writing and speaking practice uses selected strategy choices and does not grade essays or speech. Listening uses macOS system text-to-speech rather than recorded human audio. The app has no ASR, tutor feedback, cloud sync, learner account or online question updates, and its five-day Week 1 plan is a simple starter schedule rather than a personalized curriculum.
Examly is a native Mac app distributed as a complete, fully activated download. No subscription, no account, no locked features, no tracking.
