What it is

A native solo demolition combat racer for Mac with 20 five-lap circuits, 3–11 AI rivals, breakaway vehicle parts, armed garage builds and local XP and scrap progression.

Boom Racer is a native single-player demolition combat racer built around survival rather than a clean racing line. Choose one of 20 distinct five-lap warzones, set a field of 3–11 AI rivals and drive into a race where opponents attack, recover and continue fighting. The last moving vehicle wins; if more than one machine survives the lap limit, the remaining field enters sudden death.

The Scrapheap Bunker is both garage and armory. Start from 13 vehicle presets or combine six chassis with 14 weapons, then configure armor, defensive hardware, wheels, skins and perks. Vehicles take part-level damage: armor shears away as debris, engines smoke and burn, and detached wheels or other components change how the machine handles rather than acting as a cosmetic damage counter.

Driver XP and scrap are stored locally and remain part of the game. Races award progression, levels open more choices and the garage reflects what has been earned. The Direct purchase includes exactly 10 items that are sold separately in the App Store edition: the War Rig and Interceptor vehicles; Rocket Pod, Mine Layer, Flamethrower and Energy Shield equipment; and four premium skins. Other gameplay items still follow their stated level or scrap requirements, so buying Direct does not put every garage item into the starting inventory.

This release was checked with 525 passing headless verification checks and 20 isolated circuit-raceability tests — release verification, not a frame-rate or competitive-performance claim. The separate website Direct edition is Developer ID-signed, Apple-notarized and stapled for macOS, includes the paid App Store armory items after one purchase, and contains no StoreKit, subscription, in-app purchase or Game Center dependency.

How it does its job

20 hostile circuits

Race five-lap events across 20 distinct warzones with hazards, changing routes and a sudden-death resolution for surviving vehicles.

Configurable AI field

Choose 3–11 computer-controlled rivals that race, attack and attempt to recover without requiring another player or online matchmaking.

Build in the bunker

Start from 13 presets or combine six chassis, 14 weapons, armor, defenses, wheels, skins and perks.

Damage changes the drive

See armor and wheels detach, engines degrade and handling change as a vehicle loses functional parts during combat.

Local progression

Earn driver XP and scrap from races, level up and unlock progression-gated garage options on the current Mac.

Ten paid items included

Get War Rig, Interceptor, Rocket Pod, Mine Layer, Flamethrower, Energy Shield and four premium skins with the Direct purchase.

What it doesn't do

Boom Racer is currently single-player only. It has no playable multiplayer, online matchmaking, ranked mode, Game Center competition, user-created tracks or cloud-save promise. A Game Center transport prototype in the source repository is incomplete and is not presented as a Direct-edition feature. It is an arcade demolition game rather than a driving, vehicle-damage or motorsport simulator. The Direct purchase includes all 10 items sold separately in the App Store edition, but normal driver-level and scrap progression remains, so other presets, parts, perks and garage choices are not necessarily available immediately. Progress is local to the current installation and should not be treated as an account-backed cross-device save. Release checks confirm that automated behaviors and each circuit passed the stated verification suites; they do not promise a particular frame rate, hardware performance, difficulty balance or bug-free play on every Mac.

Common questions

What is Boom Racer?

A native single-player demolition combat racer for Mac. Build a machine, arm it, face 3-11 AI rivals across 20 five-lap circuits, lose wheels and armor in live combat, and survive the sudden-death finish while earning local XP and scrap.

Who is Boom Racer for?

Boom Racer is for Mac players who want a solo arcade demolition racer with vehicle building, destructible parts, armed AI rivals and local progression. Build an armed machine, battle up to 11 AI rivals across 20 hostile circuits and stay moving when the race becomes sudden death.

Does Boom Racer run on macOS?

Yes. Boom Racer is a native Mac app and runs on macOS 14+.

Is Boom Racer multiplayer?

No. The current Direct edition is a single-player game against configurable AI rivals. It does not offer playable multiplayer, matchmaking, ranked competition, Game Center racing or shared online events.

How many tracks and opponents are included?

The current release contains 20 distinct five-lap circuits and lets you configure 3–11 AI rivals. If multiple vehicles survive the lap limit, the race moves into sudden death until one remains.

Does the Direct edition unlock everything immediately?

It includes all 10 items sold separately in the App Store edition: two vehicles, four equipment items and four skins. Level and scrap progression still applies to other gameplay content, so not every preset, part or perk is immediately available at the start.

What happens when a vehicle is damaged?

Individual armor, wheels and other parts can detach and become physics debris. Lost or damaged components can affect movement and handling; engines can smoke and burn as damage accumulates.

Is Boom Racer a driving simulator?

No. It is a stylized solo arcade demolition combat racer. Its vehicles, weapons, damage, AI and handling are designed for game play, not real-world driving or mechanical simulation.

Does the website edition have subscriptions or in-app purchases?

No. Boom Racer Direct is a separate one-time-purchase Mac build with the 10 App Store paid items included and no StoreKit, subscription or in-app purchase flow.

Is this the same Boom Racer edition as the Mac App Store version?

No. The Mac App Store edition can include Apple's in-app subscription system. The website Direct edition is a separately signed build with no StoreKit purchase flow: one website purchase unlocks the complete app with no recurring charge.

Is Boom Racer the full version, or are features locked?

The download is the complete app. There is no subscription, no locked tier, no account, and no trial timer — every feature is included.

How do I get Boom Racer?

Choose $10 for one app, $20 for two different apps, or $49 for every published app through Stripe's hosted checkout on this page. The download starts straight away; each download link works once and expires after a while.

Is the Boom Racer Direct edition notarized by Apple?

Yes. Version 0.1.0 is signed with a Developer ID certificate, notarized by Apple, and distributed with a stapled notarization ticket. Its published SHA-256 checksum is 22d842133748152d37dfe23947b811fe97d36252725c629ee6ab2bf9f1bd41ed.
