A complete beginner's path to Python, SQL, JavaScript, automation, digital measurement and SEO
An illustrated learning path for marketers who start from zero: 52 chapters in ten parts, plus 18 JavaScript lessons and nine program-construction lessons, covering Python, SQL, how websites work, JavaScript, measurement, automation, SEO and working with AI systems.
Starts from files, tables and a marketing calculation, then builds to working Python, SQL and JavaScript tools for marketing work.
The Technical Marketer starts where most marketers already are: with campaigns, customers and spreadsheets. The early chapters need only a pencil, paper and ordinary computer use, and they explain the business situation before introducing any software. From there the book builds to Python for marketing work, asking a database questions with SQL, how websites work, JavaScript from first instructions to a working service, measurement and automation, digital marketing and SEO with technical depth, and working with AI systems. The examples use fictional businesses and invented records, so you can change the figures and try again, and the parts end in work a marketing team would recognise, such as a checked campaign report, a campaign analysis someone can trust or an automation that survives repeat runs.
The marketing question comes first. Computer skills help you investigate it and carry out useful actions.

The book asks you to practise in four ways: follow a worked example, change one part with guidance, solve a related problem yourself, then deliver a piece of work from a business request that does not tell you every step. Illustrations show a program as a sequence of changes, with execution storyboards, branching maps and annotated browser views, and each new illustration is followed by three prompts: Predict, With a little help, and On your own. AI is treated as a tool you check: you identify the question, predict the answer, inspect the result and explain your decisions.
No coding experience is assumed. The early chapters require only a pencil, paper and ordinary computer use, and when it is time to write code the book explains where to type, how to save your work and what you should see.
There is no deadline for finishing. The book says some chapters take one evening and others several sessions and a return visit. Nine stages, from starting at zero to reviewing AI work and delivering it, mark the route through the 52 chapters and the JavaScript and program-construction lessons. A laptop or desktop computer makes the practical exercises much easier than a phone or tablet.
Each chapter starts from a marketing task, explained before any software appears.
Follow a complete example, with the instructions and the result side by side.
Change one part of the example with guidance, and predict what will happen.
Solve a related problem yourself, then compare with the answers in Appendix E.
When the result differs from your prediction, find the first different value and repair it.
Finish a piece of work a marketing team would recognise, from a request that does not list every step.
