What it is

What Gravity does

Snaps windows into halves, quarters, thirds, two-thirds and sixths by keyboard shortcut or by dragging to a screen edge. Scenes save the position of every window across every display and restore them when that display arrangement reappears — so docking and undocking stops rebuilding your desktop by hand.

The snapping is what you expect: halves, quarters, thirds, two-thirds, sixths, maximise, almost-maximise and centre, by shortcut or by dragging a window to an edge or corner with a live preview. The shortcuts match Magnet's, so muscle memory transfers, and all of them are remappable.

Desktop Shapes are the part that is genuinely different. Any manageable app window can be docked onto a cube face; the cube holds and restores those windows, and populated cubes can be placed into orbit around Gravity's desktop solar system. Scenes also record every window across every display and restore the arrangement when you redock.

Dock open app windows onto 3D cube faces, then click a face to bring its window back.

Save the whole desktop and restore it, including which window sat on which monitor.

What it doesn't do

Window management needs Accessibility permission — macOS gives no other way to move another app's windows.

A two-display writing Scene

Put the document on the main display, source material beside it and reference notes on the laptop. Save that as a desk Scene. Save a separate laptop-only Scene rather than assuming the same geometry will suit both setups.

Grant Accessibility permission and test one window.
Open the required apps and documents, arrange them, then save the Scene.
Disconnect and reconnect the monitor, restore the Scene and inspect each window.
Recheck after changing display resolution or scaling. Save documents inside their own apps; a Scene is not a document backup.

Use the full redocking test. For occasional tiling, try macOS window tiling first.
